Some examples of recent work are:

  • acting for an employer in the public sector, in relation to sex discrimination claims by hundreds of employees worth approximately £250,000.
  • acting for a components manufacturer in relation to a selective redundancy programme under which approximately 30 out of 70 staff were made redundant. Following our advice, the employer was not required to offer substantial compensation and no claims were brought by employees.
  • advising on the TUPE aspects of a substantial hotel purchase in central London.
  • handling the TUPE aspects of a £12m outsourcing project on behalf of an educational establishment.
  • acting for a major chemical manufacturer in a class action brought by employees claiming that their employment had been terminated as a result of a transfer of undertakings.
  • advising high net-worth individuals on their severance packages following termination of their employment.

The Employment Group provides a regular Employment Update to help businesses to keep up to date with changes in employment law and to understand how these changes may affect their business affairs.

We also run workshops and seminars on topical, employment-related issues, which are provided on-site at clients' premises or at our offices, and members of the Employment Group have had various articles published on employment issues.
