Trainee solicitors experience a diverse range of work with us. As well as corporate and commercial law, property law and litigation, they also have the opportunity to work with healthcare, charity and private clients.
Trainees experience plenty of client contact and a high level of responsibility whilst benefiting from the balance that we endeavour to maintain between the demands of the firm’s practice and respect for the outside lives of its employees. Many trainees are invited to remain with us after qualification.
Attributes which we seek in trainees include intelligence, approachability, and evidence of being a team player. Also sought is a personal presence and the ability to mix well with others as an indication of how a trainee might work with clients. Equally important qualities include an ability to self-start and evidence of commercial and business acumen suited to today’s changing business environment.

New vacancy – Paralegal in Manchester
We are looking for a Manchester-based paralegal to work full time for our Healthcare department. This will be a fixed term contract starting in July 2017 and would suit someone wishing to gain some relevant legal experience before beginning a training contract.
The role will primarily involve attending hearings at the Manchester General Medical Council and occasionally at other locations. The paralegal would be required to take notes of proceedings, look after clients in court and liaise with counsel and fee earners in clinical negligence and regulatory cases. They would also be expected to visit the Leeds office periodically to assist in the preparation for cases, to collect court bundles or to undertake research.
We are looking for someone who is bright, enthusiastic and keen to learn and develop. They will need to demonstrate initiative, flexibility and attention to detail, and to have an interest in, or some experience of, Healthcare law. As they will be in court much of the time they need to be self-sufficient and self-motivated.
The salary will be £19,000 pa. Travel expenses will be payable for trips to the Leeds office or other locations outside Manchester.
