Litigation and dispute resolution
We believe that disputes need to be handled with the aims and goals of the charity firmly in mind, and with a high degree of sensitivity due to some of the matters in dispute. This is why our lawyers work closely with our clients to find solutions that are compatible with them.
We deal with a full range of issues, ranging from relatively straightforward contractual claims to complex disputes involving other jurisdictions. We also deal with judicial review.
Charity disputes often require sensitive handling, for example if a charity is a beneficiary and an estate is being contested by a family member of the deceased.
Litigation carries a significant financial and often reputational risk for clients. We aim to resolve disputes through mediation and negotiation wherever possible, enabling clients to control the outcome and cost as far as possible. Sometimes litigation cannot be avoided, in which case our experienced litigators will act quickly and efficiently to resolve matters, whilst providing full support and guidance to our clients through what would otherwise be a very difficult time.
