First instance employment tribunal decisions

From Autumn 2016, first instance employment tribunal decisions will be available online.

Previously, the only way to obtain judgements was to attend Bury St Edmunds Employment Tribunal to undertake a manual search.

The HM Courts and Tribunal Service (HMCTS) has advised that the new database will be available for everyone to search on the internet. It will initially only cover new judgments.

Access to judgements online will allow parties in current proceedings and their representatives ready access to assist in their current employment tribunal claims. The online database may also be used in the recuruitment process by employers to check whether a prospective employee has brought proceedings against their former employers. Furthermore, job applicants may use this database to determine the types of claims that have been brought previously against their new employer.
