Business support staff

We operate through a full business support team including accounting and finance, HR, IT, marketing and other support staff.

Each department employs staff to enable the firm to manage itself efficiently and effectively on a day-to-day basis as well as to prepare the firm for the future achievement of its objectives.

Secretarial staff

Although legal secretarial experience is always welcome, it is not essential in order to apply for a secretarial post with us. We consider the overall experience of applicants, taking into account their motivation, communication skills and attitude amongst other factors. We are particularly keen to employ secretaries who will assist our clients as much as possible, becoming actively involved wherever appropriate. We will consider providing assistance for training to administrative staff who would like to further their careers.

Vacancy: Secretary in Leeds

We have a new vacancy in our Leeds office for a Secretary to support the fee earners in our regulatory practice. This would involve both medical defence work and Police Federation work.

Some experience of legal secretarial work, ideally in the healthcare field, would be preferred although candidates with other secretarial experience will be considered.

The role will involve audio typing, production of documents, maintaining electronic files and providing support to two fee earners. In addition the role will include a variety of administrative tasks, such as reception duties, copying and scanning, booking travel and hotels, preparing refreshments for visitors, sorting in-coming and out-going post and assisting with marketing events.

The successful candidate will be a team player who can offer flexibility, good client service, attention to detail, a can-do attitude and a willingness to learn new systems and processes.

Good Word and Outlook skills will be required with prior experience of Worksite an advantage.

This is a full time role and the working hours will be 10am to 6pm, Mondays to Fridays. The salary will be up to £22,000 pa depending on skills and previous experience.

We are keen to fill this role quickly although candidates with notice period will be accommodated.

Vacancy: Paralegal in Cardiff

We have a vacancy in our Cardiff office for a paralegal to assist with a range of claims, regulatory and criminal cases for our medical defence organisation clients.

The paralegal will undertake some fee earning work and also provide administrative support to two solicitors. There may be some requirement to travel to hearings in Manchester or elsewhere in the country. This will be a full time, fixed term contract for a year and it would suit someone looking for a training contract or wanting to work in the period before one begins.

We would prefer a candidate with some prior experience as a paralegal although this does not have to be in a relevant field. Salary will be £19,000 pa.
