Annual employment and immigration seminar

We are delighted to announce that our annual employment and immigration seminar will take place on Thursday 17 November. Our speakers include Sejal Raja and Lara Keenan of RadcliffesLeBrasseur and Annette Gumbs of St John’s Buildings.

In a change to the agenda, instead of whistleblowing we are going to cover the implications of the recent Uber case; we are of the view that the consequences of this case will be highly relevant. We will cover:

The Uber result – so what for employers?

Uber has been in the spotlight recently due to a ruling which says that it can no longer treat its taxi drivers as if they are self-employed, but must avail them of the usual workers’ rights including the minumum wage and holiday pay. Following the recent employment tribunal decision, Sejal Raja will deal with the implications of this case.

Right to work in the UK post-Brexit vote – what do employers need to know?

Lara Keenan will update employers on the current rules on who can work in the UK and recent trends. She will also provide an overview of what employers should be thinking about post Brexit in respect of employees.

Developments to watch for in 2017

Annette Gumbs of St John’s Buildings, will consider key employment law developments that organisations will need to be aware of in 2017.
