August update from Andrew Parsons on behalf of RadcliffesLeBrasseur LLP
I hope this latest update finds you well.
On 19 July the Government released most of the lockdown restrictions including the guidance to work from home. However this coincided with a significant increase in the level of Covid 19 infection. Public transport is clearly a significant potential area of risk for infection and therefore, to maintain our operational capacity, rather than forcing all our staff into the offices on public transport we have adopted a flexible policy. This means that staff have the choice of continuing to work from home or go into one of the offices as they prefer, and as required for the business. This will be reviewed at the end of the summer, and I am pleased to say that at the time of writing the infection levels have been decreasing.
The firm has continued to provide the full range of services to clients from all our offices, as we have throughout the period of the pandemic. We have also avoided a ‘ping-demic’ of absences!
I am pleased to say that the last few months have seen a growth in several areas of the business with two new staff in the matrimonial department, a new member of my Healthcare Providers team, and three new people in our private client team, including a new partner who joins later this month. It is nice to see our qualifying trainees staying with the firm when they qualify in September. We also look forward to welcoming four new trainees at the start of their training contracts in September.
The latest media statements on the pandemic seem to be increasingly positive and hopefully everything will return to normal before Christmas. Whether that “normal” is the same as the period pre-pandemic remains to be seen. The increased use of video-conferencing and online hearings may well remain. Many have seen the benefit of reduced travel and have welcomed the flexibility and increased productivity of working from home.
I hope you enjoy the summer and have the opportunity to have some holiday time away, even if foreign travel remains fraught with variation and complexity!
