Trade marks

Trade marks offer protection (i.e. the name of your product, service or brand) against unauthorised use by third parties within the country of registration.

However, various international registration systems exist and are intended to reflect the need for transnational protection of trade mark rights.

Once registered, you have the right to legal recourse against anyone who uses your brand without permission (including counterfeiters), you can put the ® symbol next to your brand to warn against others using it, and you can sell and license your brand.
